Anchor Piercing Aftercare
November 15, 2016
The most important thing to remember is that we are here to help you. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
Our aftercare is for those who have been pierced with jewelry suitable for a fresh piercing and have been pierced where sterile technique was applied.
This is a brief explanation of our aftercare. Do not attempt to heal your piercing with this method until you have come into our studio and have had a consultation about your piercing (all consultations are free of charge). If you have been pierced at Iris then you have been given the appropriate verbal aftercare instructions for your particular piercing and have received an aftercare pamphlet. For those who have been pierced here and still have questions about aftercare, use this as a reference.
If you have aftercare questions that are not answered within the information below, please stop by our studio or give us a call.
Cover your clean, dry piercing with a 3M Nexcare Tegaderm Waterproof Transparent Dressing or Active Waterproof Skin Cover. These skin covers do not have gauze in the center like normal bandages. Each waterproof skin cover can be worn for 2-3 days, even during showers or swimming. Replace as needed to keep your piercing covered for 4-6 weeks. If you notice a reaction to the adhesive, discontinue use.
What To Do:
The more you leave your new piercing alone the quicker it will heal. Always keep your hands and any other foreign objects/chemicals away from your piercing, including soap (unless necessary -see below). After showering, you will need to spray it with Wound Wash or Simply Saline to restore the natural Ph balance of the healing skin. Let your piercing air dry instead of drying it with a towel. You can also use Wound Wash or Simply Saline if your piercing feels sore or irritated and to rinse away any build up around your piercing. Never take your jewelry out to clean it.
If your piercing gets dirty (touching it, hair caught in it, contact with another person’s bodily fluids, etc.), it is suggested to wash the outside of your piercing with a mild, fragrance-free liquid soap (Castile soap, glycerin soap, baby soap). Do not move/rotate your jewelry. Rinse with water followed by a rinse with Wound Wash or Simply Saline. You may also stop by the studio and we will clean it for you at no charge.
