Start with clean hands. If you are familiar with a regular earring, think of a piece of jewelry that works the opposite. Threadless jewelry has a smooth hollow post with an End with a slightly bent pin. When inserting the threadless end into the threadless post, the slight bend of the pin is what gives the piece friction and keeps the front end secure on the post. This type of jewelry is most commonly inserted into your piercing from the back to the front (not front to back like a regular earring).
To remove it, grasp the back of the Post with your forefinger and thumb and gently pull the decorative End straight out from the post—it should slide free with steady pressure. Give the End a little wiggle if it is being stubborn. To put it back together, insert the Post into your piercing first. Then, push the decorative End back into the post until it feels secure. You may even feel a click!
The slight bend in the pin keeps it snug and will need to be re-bent from time to time. It takes a lot of practice to get this right. Stay patient, and if you need our help please come see us or give us a call.
