It is good to note that hoops are for when it is fully healed and curved barbells are for the initial piercing.

Healing Timeline:
Expect your rook to take between 6 and 12 months to fully heal. Some heal faster, while others may need extra time depending on your body and aftercare habits.
Common Healing Symptoms:
Redness & Swelling: These are normal in the early stages and usually settle within a few weeks.
Crusting: You may see clear or pale discharge that dries around the jewelry—this is lymph fluid and totally normal.
Ongoing Sensitivity: Mild tenderness to the touch may persist for several months.
Clean Gently Twice a Day
Use a sterile saline spray solution to rinse the area. Let it air dry or use a blow dryer on a cool setting. Avoid cotton swabs—they can leave fibers behind.
No Twisting or Touching
It’s tempting, but resist the urge! Movement can irritate the piercing and slow down healing.
Avoid Snags
Watch out for scarves, towels, headphones, or anything that might tug on your jewelry. Be especially cautious during hair styling.
Sleep Carefully
Try to avoid sleeping on your new piercing. A donut or travel pillow can help take the pressure off your ear while you rest.
Keep It Out of Water
Avoid pools, hot tubs, lakes, and baths until fully healed. Showers are fine—just rinse and air dry the area afterward.
Stick with It
Healing takes time. Don’t change or remove the jewelry until you’re fully healed and have checked in with your piercer. Once it is healed you can put that hoop in that you've been dreaming of!
